After many years waiting for the opportunity to get back into quality audio and video, when I got that opportunity, the first thing was to find a shop that KNEW audio and video....not just sold it. The chain stores do have some quality people working for them, but to most of these people it's just a job, not a passion. Fortunately, I happened upon this "hidden" gem in Murrells Inlet. After speaking with both Allen and John on different occasions, I was confident that I found the shop I was looking for. They both took time to listen to what I needed and then made recommendations based on budget and of course, quality. They take the time to explain all of the components and recommend the gear that would work best for me, not the gear that topped out my budget. I took a chance on some brands that I wasn't completely familiar with, and a brand that had given me nightmares in the past. The guys stood behind everything they recommended, gave me a secure feeling that the products I was choosing would do what they said they would do. And then there's the install team... FANTASTIC. No messing around, right down to business, efficient, professional and clearly masters of their craft. Zero mess, zero issues with the equipment, and they took all of the time needed for me to be comfortable with operating things after they walked out the door. It was also important that I was happy with the system after living with it for a week. And pricing?? While I wasn't price shopping by any means... I wanted the good stuff and was fine paying to get it... but prices were well within line of any high-volume chain or internet shop. And those of us in the Myrtle Beach area know the sales tax slap for buying at the beach... Well, this shop is just over the line Georgetown County, so no 10% sales tax! Just an unexpected bonus! Great people, great service, great products and even great prices... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I would highly recommend Custom Theater & Audio for both sales and installation services. I recently relocated to SC and had CT&A install 6 in-ceiling speakers and 1 center channel for an existing Sonos system. They also installed 2 wall mounted TVs. They did an outstanding job of organizing the wiring in my audio closet for my receiver and Blu-ray. Allen (sales) and Tom/team (installation) are all great to work with. They really care about customer satisfaction and the quality of their work.
We recently moved to the area and we’re having difficulty figuring out how to get the tv’s where we wanted them. We visited the store and talked over some options. They offered us to have someone come out to house and see what they would be able to. John was very thorough and explained everything and how they could hang the mounts. Yesterday we had 3 TV’s hung on mounts that could swivel along with a mantle mount that sits above the fireplace and can be pulled down easily. John and Shawn were on time, extremely professional, and had to overcome several obstacles with running wires down through the attic and creating a new power source. Would highly recommend and if we ever needed audio or vehicle will definitely return.
